@neonangelbomb all good mate, totally agree.... The Jam were above and beyond labels, as were The Clash, etc.... what I don't understand is this..... why don't all the so called 80's radio stations in the UK play the biggest band of the eighties? And why is there no modern political music?
neonangelbomb (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
lol people, punk was a scene for the outcast not a fuckin music gender, it had to do with an attitude towards the system, they all played rock in their own way; if you think punk should sound like this or that than you have no fuckin idea what are you talking about. Punk was a media term to a music scene, as far as must of the scene bands knew, they were playing rock and roll in their own terms.

This is amazing and powerful music, always was, so who cares if it's mod or punk or post-punk or whatever pretentious shite Tony Wilson says about it?30 years later nobody says 'The Jam weren't great'. Tastes and fashion change but nobody sensible'll ever tell your grandkids that the Beatles or Stooges or Supremes sucked. You don't know if you'll be watching 3d tv or have anal mpg/avi when you're old and grey but you know for a fact that in 2040 no critic will be dissing this band. |
